This week I am going to start with meditation versus exercise. There seems to be a lot of talk around on social media about which is best for you and I personally believe that they both work in unison with each other, and that goes along with a healthy diet. You know where I’m coming from with this I’m sure. I also believe that a good bit of exercise doesn’t always have to be an expensive gym or personal trainer if your body or budget doesn’t feel up to that but a nice walk and some fresh air does just a good job for the mind as it does for the body and soul. I’ve also personally found in the past that I’ve loved a good gym session with a spinning, weights or yoga class as much as I’ve loved my at home youtube hiit workouts with https://www.youtube.com/user/LWRFitnessChannel I truly do believe that whatever floats your boat.

That said I also know that there are days where I don’t want to move off the sofa and will happily lay and watch rubbish on TV and scoff more than one packets of biscuits. But these days make me feel absolutely rubbish the next day because I haven’t moved and I’ve filled my body and mind full of rubbish. So there goes my working in unison works for me.

With so much chatter about what is best for you, meditation vs exercise I don’t think there is a true explanation for everyone but I do think if it’s at all possible to use both. My best days are started off with a walk the dog early in the morning, then a workout session, whether it’s a 20 minute hit or a yoga/pilates (whatever I fancy that morning, or can be bothered to do), a healthy breakfast and then a snoozy time later in the day with a meditation or hypnosis session. Those are the days I feel at my absolute best. I eat better, I converse better and I sleep better.

So here’s my lowdown on this, meditation is like an exercise for the brain, calming time that gives your brain time to recover from the daily strains of everyday life and too much thinking time (that’s hard work for the brain). Whereas physical exercise is great for the body, in whatever form you choose. Both reduce stress which is MASSIVE right now. Both of these produce a variety or endorphins which produce a feeling of happiness and that’s always good. So a little bit of what you fancy when it comes to physical and mental working out definitely does you good. That put together with a pretty healthy diet and wham bam we can be happier, calmer and healthier.

The flip side of this weeks mutterings is that I have had a crazy few days, I was invited to a lab tour at the brain tumour research centre at Derriford hospital where I had my surgery. The tour was with the supermodel Caprice, Benjamin Mee (of we bought a zoo), the Major of Plymouth and a host of other people who support the brain tumour research charity. Then I was asked if I would be happy to be interviewed by the BBC about the effect of brain tumours and hopefully to be able to promote my website https://naturallycalmtherapy.co.uk hypnosis and meditation. I think I might need a little bit of my own medicine here.

There were a few things that happened as a result of this and I am putting them all in this post for prosperity (in case I forget them, that’s not even a joke)

This is part of what has happened https://www.plymouth.ac.uk/news/supermodel-and-entrepreneur-explores-brain-tumour-research-at-plymouth

Then this I took me a few days to finally work out how to upload it and share it https://youtu.be/Tt6jxoqTjc4

And then this for ITV https://youtu.be/-nCDouEt5Kk

And then I slept for a full day to get over the drama of the day and my phone and laptop going crazy for hours after, I’m not complaining about that at all. I consider myself very very lucky and hope this is raising awareness for brain tumours as well as www.naturallycalmtherapy.co.uk

Have a fab week everyone, be happy and healthy, calm and energised
